How does covid keep changing into new variants?

Now there's a sub variant, I was looking forward to the summer.
When the fear wears off.

BOOM new variant..

Glad I can help

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout right over target. We are living in a real life Fear Factor game they have played on us for 2 years now.

You'll have to ask a lib scientist but it seems in election years, variants flourish.
justanothername · 51-55, M
@TexChik Were the last 2 years election years?
TexChik · F
@justanothername They were leading up to this midterm and the libs are all about violating constitutional rights in order to control and oppress the population. Now that scotus has started knocking down creepy joe's mandates and the rest of the world is dropping theirs we see Joe and the dems doubling down. Libs dont win fair elections, and even now all they can say is "did you see what Trump did?" Which is totally ridiculous and disgusting.

Authoritarians like the newfound power they've been able to seize thanks to this virus and they're not going to give it up so easily.

That's the thing about viruses -- they sometimes have very high mutagenic potential. That's to say that they have the possibility to mutate and change into new strains and variants very, very quickly. Especially so when it is infecting a lot of people, vaccinated or not, and adapting to it.
Look at Plague Inc., a game based around viruses and mutagenic potential.
@SW-User Thank you. Well said. Another "simply put" way of describing it: Recall every year it is suggested we get a flu shot as the flu VIRUS is slightly different. Duh.. Or There are about 150 or so viruses that cause the common cold, hence why kids and younger adults get more colds vs older adults.
So, will we need to get COVID boosters like the flu shot, tetanus, shingles, pneumonia, Hepatitis, etc .
Viruses mutate. Vaccinologists claim that even mass vaccination can create escape variants.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@BizSuitStacy they mutate better when you get vaccinated for one. I would get paraflu with every flu shot….combo of a cold virus and flu virus but much larger than a flu virus. Would make me sick and fatigued all winter long.

There will always be a new variant...cause they help sell the next booster and the excuse will be “viruses mutate!”

Deltacron is apparently coming along with Flurona

We need to sink this sub variant.

Torpedoes away!

@RadiantRuby

I have decided I am going to enjoy it (and spring) no matter what happens. I am tired of being upset about life! I want to live it!
@JoyfulSilence I love your spirit,
I might wanna adopt it too!
It lasted than we all expected, we have to enjoy life 🥳🥳🥳🥸

@RadiantRuby

Covid is not the only thing that had been getting me down. There were other issues that predate it. Like loneliness, not wanting to work for a living, being bored with my surroundings, etc. I am going to try hard to not let these other things bring me down, too!

All viruses mutate as they replicate. Covid just does it faster than most.
MrAboo · 36-40, M
viruses mutate. That's part of what they do to fuck us over.
@MrAboo I wasn't aware of that till now. Just confused me
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@RadiantRuby There very well could be a new variant. I wouldn't write it off as a political lie of the left. Could be a lie, but the reality is viruses mutate. I am not convinced for a second that the new form, if true. will be hindered by the vaccine that doesn't account for the new mutation. A company I once worked for about a year ago said that the best way to deal with the delta variant was to wear a mask and get the vaccine. I call bullshit then and now because the vaccine is designed for the original virus not the mutated form.
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@RadiantRuby The flu mutates annually and they have to continuously change the vaccine because of the flu virus mutation.

To much talking about politics and mid terms
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@MarineBob how does that affect the rest of the world?

To control the general mass
