Subway in America means a train. Here it means a ffordd dan ddaear but that's Welsh. A walkway under the road?

@Blodyn 'Over here' subway is used to mean more than just 'train'.

@Really I meant a train dan ddaear.

@Blodyn And I meant 'subway' as generally used on both sides of the Atlantic. Why are you "responding" with/about a Welsh phrase no one has raised?

Subway In America does not necessarily mean train. One can take the subway or one can go through a subway or one can excavate a subway etc etc etc.

@Really Ok. But here one cannot take a subway. It makes no sense. A subway is is a footpath under a road. A sottopassagiria as my Dad would say. He's from Brindisi!
