I literally have some of those spines stuck in my foot right now from chasing dogs of my property barefoot the other day.

I've damaged uncountable tires because of those. And also my feet, but at this point I've developed a thick enough layer of skin and/or a high enough pain threshold to withstand them

I live in an area often referred to “the Sandhills”… so the common name in this region is “sand spurs”. 🙂

Sticker burrs.

Cuckle burs. They are pointy, sharp and have a hook on the spike ends so they stick to clothing big time. Pretty common around southern river banks and lands.
