I often wonder about people who have really bad paranoia and the whole ID verification thing to have an online social media thing?

And yeah, I'm being sincere...

Like someone who wants to do things online, etc...
but they either:

A. Have legit and diagnosed paranoia about privacy

or

B. Have a crazy/abusive ex they're trying to hide from

Do you mean to give your ID to the admins of the social media site or just not wanting to show one's face or reveal some personal info they could be recognized by by people who know them in real life?

Because showing your ID to just anybody is a legitimate worry. You can literally use a photocopy of someone's ID to set up a bank account and take a loan in their name. 😐 It has happened before.

@CrazyMusicLover someone who has doxing fears...

Also, to have a business where I live, you need an ABN...

Which basically makes all the info you wouldn't want a stalker to know, public 😞

Unless you jump through a million hoops,
And even then, a stalker can basically just pay a fee for the info they want

@Fishy Yeah, I get that and I do have a problem with it myself. I guess that if someone is paranoid they should strictly separate their business from social media sites where questionable and borderline insane communities frequent. Let's say only provide services on Fiver, Upwork, Ko-Fi etc. where they have their portfolio and that's it and exchange invoices only with trustworthy individuals. However, every artist needs to promote their works and not promoting them on social media means less income. Fame sells, a face sells, a personality sells so I guess if someone wants to be truly successful they need to risk it or put extra work into ways how to bypass it.

Like...no offense to anybody on here but if someone offered me work, I'd have to decline because I do have to put my full name and my full address on the invoice and that's a no no for me...After all the info and personal thoughts I shared on here, after all the scam stories I read from other people sharing here, I don't consider this place appropriate enough to share my name and address with anyone.

I took it fully from my point of view, not sure if this is what you meant.

Yes, this. So much this

@Fishy Yep, this is one of the reasons why I struggle to actually try to sell my art. Maybe even the bigger problem is my doubts that the other side will be actually willing to provide their personal info to me because that needs to be on the invoice as well. Because let's say, yeah, I will promote on Deviantart or somewhere else with a new page with no personal history, so I'd be okay with sharing my name and address but how about the other side if they are just ordinary people who want a picture from me. Would they trust ME?

Yeah I mean...
It's like either:
A. Be a real person with real flaws, and make mistakes, innocently annoy the wrong person,

Or
B: have an online career and be an approval wh0re.
