how should you react to someone who insinuates false things whilst you're talking to them

a person who insinuates things which are untrue when you're talking to them, do you know what i mean?

i'm a sensitive chap, and i tend to take situations like this personal...what is the best way to respond when someone is subtly insinuating things which are not true?

They have their reasons why they -interpret- how they do, instead of how you see them as insinuating?

We all have a thousand reasons why we respond as we do, and their concern is just as valid as yours?

Stop them mid sentence and say "What the hell is that supposed to mean??"

Clarify what they meant. Correct their misperception.
