how should you react to someone who insinuates false things whilst you're talking to them

a person who insinuates things which are untrue when you're talking to them, do you know what i mean?

i'm a sensitive chap, and i tend to take situations like this personal...what is the best way to respond when someone is subtly insinuating things which are not true?
