He's a gosh darned SUCKY liar is what!

WARNING! Vent Post!!!!

I called to let my SUPER annoying friend Tom know I was coming over with food today, and cat food for his friend Dave, and egg cartons for Dave's chicken farm and his voice when saying hello was chipper and upbeat...until he realized it was ME, and suddenly the DRAMA began...his voice went down three octaves...and it was showtime. I asked how he was feeling, and he said he was sick. I asked..."Do you have the flu?"

Tom: "No."

Me: "Is it contagious?"

Tom: "No".

Me: "Well in what way are you sick?"

Tom: " I am just sick all over."

Me: "Well, I have oranges for you, and hamburger, and cheese and bread and snacks. Do you want me to come over?"

Tom, in a die-away voice: "Yes."

I drove to Tom's house. it was a GLORIOUS afternoon!!!!! The sun was shining. The TREES were in FULL color, and the panorama took my breath away. At times, I would see a tree that was SO BEAUTIFUL that tears came to my eyes. I am in love with God's beautiful, beautiful world, and with his creations.

I arrived at Tom's house, texted him that I was there, and he didn't even open the door. He is not answering his texts now, apparently.

I carried ALL the bags up to his door...EIGHT bags...and three of them were VERY heavy! He finally opened the door after I started THROWING the bags down on his little deck and made some noise.

I made my way up the steps and could not get into his house for two reasons...the bags still blocking my way, which I had to carry in, and TOM, bent over double holding onto the doorknob.

The drama that ensued is not to be described. He told me that every time he gets up off the sofa and walks to the door, he begins to black out and wants to throw up.

Me: "Did you call your doctor?"

Tom: "Yes"

Me: "What did she say?"

Tom, with reviving energy: "She said to call her next month!!!"

He told me he wants to call his sister, Margaret, and have her drive all the way from Weymouth, just to sit with him.

Me: " That's a long way for your sister to have to drive just to sit with you. You should call the VA and have them send over a CNA, with a medical background. You should have them here anyway, to cook for you, clean, and help you take a shower!"

He told me that they can't help him take a shower because his bathroom is too small for more than one person to fit.

I told him they would help him get IN to the shower, safely, into his shower seat...and then make sure he got OUT safely. I told him, "THAT'S ALL THEY DO!"

Says he, "Oh, that's not true...because when I was in the hospital and in rehab, they WASHED me. I can't WASH myself. I'm embarrassed. I can't even shave myself."

So here comes the fork in the road. He doesn't STINK, and he doesn't have much more than a light 5 o'clock shadow. AND I KNOW him. He is a liar. He LIES to get pity and sympathy. And I won't give it to him, and that's why he wants his SISTER there. Margaret. She is the sort to cater to him. He doesn't mention his OTHER sister, Linda...who would absolutely NOT put up with his sh!t.

I KNOW how many nurses and CNA's and other medical people have come to his house to try to take care of him, and he FIRES all of them. Mostly because he is a racist asshole. A little skin color, and all of a sudden, he finds SOME other reason why they can't be in his house.

His female DOCTOR is sick of him, too...and offered to put him on in-home hospice care...which he refused...because it would involve NURSES and CNA's...and he would FIRE them.

After an hour, during which I put away his frozen foods, and carried all his groceries into the kitchen, I couldn't stand it anymore, and left.

And I drove home, and looked at all the absolutely GORGEOUS and brilliantly colored trees...one of which was TWO doors down the street from Tom's house...and HE has never SEEN it. He doesn't even know it's there.

I drove and gazed at such beauty all around me on the back roads...and I thanked GOD for the beautiful world HE has given us. And Tom would pop into my mind now and then, like an ugly little jack-in-the-box...and then I would just look at the trees.

Oh...And I forgot! He says he has a hole in his butt...and I certainly do believe THAT. But he has to go to the wound doctor for it on November 9th...and he says he plans to drive HIMSELF there.

I said: "Well, if it is TRUE that you want to pass out and throw up every time you have to walk from the sofa to the door, it would be CRIMINAL for you to get into your truck and drive!"

"Oh", says he, "I will just take it slow".

You did the best thing by leaving. It might be time to take a step back. I absolutely hate being played for sympathy by people using their health. I believe Tom is an energy vampire. Wants sympathy and help and for people to come around and baby him. And can take care of himself when he is alone. Saw my aunt act that way with the visiting nurse. She was walking around the house just fine when I was over there doing laundry & cleaning. She hears the nurse’s car coming up the driveway. Didn’t wait till the nurse got to the door. She started moaning and limping like she was in a lot of pain. I knew then she had been doing me that way at times to get sympathy and wanted me to come over more often knowing I had a full-time job that left my back & muscles aching. Then later I discovered a lot of pills that the nurse had been giving her every day. She would pretend to take them, keeping them under her tongue. And then spit them out on the carpet between her bed and the wall. That pissed me off so bad. She used to always get “sick enough to be hospitalized” the day before I had vacation time scheduled. Wasn’t planning going on a real vacation, just wanted to rest & relax. So I’d spend my days up there at the hospital waiting on her etc. After I figured it out I started not telling her about my scheduled vacations. Bought a ticket and flew out of state and told her after I got there. She would be mad as hell when I got back home, glaring at me & making hostile sideways remarks, but she never went into the hospital when I didn’t tell her the days I had vacation scheduled. I think she was hospitalized over 25 times and likely at least half of them due to stopping some of her meds long enough to be hospitalized. She wanted attention that bad.

@cherokeepatti I am SO sorry that you had an Aunt like that. How absolutely horrible for you. But it DOES give you a level of understanding of how Tom behaves.

Tom DOES sit there in his mobile home all by himself every single day. He never sees anyone at all...just has the TV for company...and then obsesses over his health. At the same time, he only gets up off the sofa to go to the bathroom and to feed himself, and to get his mail...which the next door neighbor deposits right outside his door.

When I had that financial glitch and I didn't know where my food was going to come from, Tom told me not to come over...and a couple of times, I didn't, just because my food pantry hauls were SO light there wasn't enough to share with all my neighbors AND with Tom. And during those few weeks that I had to skip going over there, he has become more and more and more "die away" and pretends to be more and more sick.

I THINK what that is, is that he feels neglected, and because he is exactly the type of person you describe above, he wants me to feel guilty that I skipped a few weeks of seeing him. And even a SH!T can feel lonely, I suppose.

Yesterday he refused a ride from me to the Doctor's on November 9th, when I offered it, claiming he will drive HIMSELF, AND while claiming he is partially blacking out and nauseated every time he gets up off the sofa. If ANY of that "blacking out and wanting to throw up" stuff is true, he should NOT be on the road. And quite honestly, I believe that's because he doesn't want to reimburse me for gas!!!

ALSO, in a storm of feeling sorry for himself and demonstrating that he does NOT need me at all, (and I suspect a tiny bit of jealousy), he suggested that his friend Dave, for whom I collect cat food and empty egg cartons, should come to my house directly to pick the stuff up, instead of my dropping off the cat food and empty egg cartons at HIS house.

He IS skeletal. And when I was putting his food away I noticed about a weeks worth of meals on wheels in his freezer which he has not eaten. I DO feel sorry for him, but the sorrier I feel, the more ANGRY at him I become!!!

Sorry you are a better person than me.
This is Me in place of you at the door

Hey Tom
Why participate in this.

Stop doing this to yourself.

@Magicianzini Good question. Maybe it's because I DO feel sorry for him, even though feeling sorry for him makes me VERY angry.
