You need a support network -- to lead by example, to talk about your concerns, etc. It is a major change on multiple levels for most students. Leaving home, being individually responsible for both studies and living, more challenging studies with less supportive instructiors.

If you have co-operative student housing available, it is a great, supportive transitional bridge as you are immediately involved with supportive fellow students by virtue of having to participate in working together to do all the chores unlike university dorms which are more like home, living alongside instead of among students with an RA playing housemother in everything but title.

Talk to your Tutor about your course and what they think about what you feel.
Are you on the same page ?
Anything different you should be doing but didn't understand ?

Talk to others in your class. Find out where they are in their thinking.
I suspect many of them will be feeling the same way they just haven't taken the decision to approach the Tutor yet.

This is a common worry it's not unusual but you need understanding before you embark on a course of action you might regret later.

Lots of students change courses if they decide the current one doesn't suit.
But you need a proper understanding of where you are before you do.
Two things:

1) A lot of people feel somewhat lost during their first year of university. You might be looking around thinking everyone knows exactly what they want and have their act together. Simply not true. They’re also stumbling around trying to get their footing. Some are just better at masking it.

2) You might benefit from talking to a professional. All universities have counseling services. Go talk to someone about your fears and concerns. That’s what they’re there for.

What you SHOULD do is go and speak to the guidance counselor at Uni. This might be one of the last times you have counseling included for free in your education.

ASK about options. Can you go and intern somewhere? Can you transfer to a Technical school and use your credits? Are there vocational options?

Is it the course, the university, the town, the people, or something else thats troubling you?
