In another universe, can I get a better mother?

Is it selfish...¿
Hm, have you ever been made fun of by your parents? Of course everyone has. But the point here is... Is it normal for your parents to tell negative sides or trivial things about you that don't even need to be told to their cousins or friends as entertainment or to prolong the conversation? In my opinion, this is a privacy issue, and she shouldn't say that to others, especially about her child. But unfortunately, she's not the only one doing that. Is that narcissistic? I really hate her, but I hate myself more for starting to act like her...

(Sorry for my bad english, cause it wasn't my first language ❤)

My son use to accuse me of betrayal if I said anything going on with his life as a teenager.
He wanted to control my conversations, that wasn't going to fly.
I'm sure he had plenty of conversations with his friends, that I never inquired about nor interfered with.
I have never once made fun of him or used his life as a good story for a laugh.
That would be abhorrent to me.
He took a lot wrong, made a lot of assumptions ,because of the way he was feeling.
Not saying that's your situation.
I just know parents are not perfect and either are their offspring.
If they are actually making fun of you in front of others, or otherwise, that's uncalled for.
