Most of that feeling is your own mind giving you standards you can’t always live up to, other people are rapped up in their own worlds and may not have even noticed things we agonise over.
My partner worries herself witless feeling the same way.

Whose expectations?? Your own expectations are the only ones you have to worry about. At the end of the day we are the only judge of our actions, anyone else can go get stuffed. :)

You can't control what other people expect
What you can control is your effort, and if you give the best effort...that will have to do regardless of what others say

I think the answer is to live up to your own expectations. Other's expectations can be unrealistic so don't be so hard on yourself.
