I'm glad you were able to get this off your chest, so to speak. Letting go of the words banging in our head - and the emotions sometimes that are attached to them - can be empowering.

I'm so sorry you had to experience this; it sucks. My wife (especially) and I had similar experiences, possibly to a lesser degree though. We had to make a very conscious effort to avoid it with our kids - including not putting ourselves down in front of them too often.

I hope in time you can come to recognize your beauty. It's there, waiting for you to discover it. Just remember, somebody isn't "beautiful" just because of how they look. Maybe that reminder helps you on your discovery.

If it's OK, consider yourself warmly hugged. 馃馃馃

@Gangstress I've never been nice enough for my father. He likes to stress out how he wanted a sweet and cuddly daughter and got this rabid weirdo instead. I laugh at it though. It sounds more like a joke than a real complaint. What bothers me is that nobody ever taught me how to fight for myself.

I don't think have the right words to say.

But.

I understand.

And you're not alone.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

Try not to be.

Too often we allow the opinions of others affect us, not because we believe them, but because we believe it is our responsibility to change their opinions. I learned long ago it can鈥檛 be done.

Words are very powerful and can be very destructive... Hard to throw off their shackles at times
