I have been in a situation where someone I thought I was close with abruptly decided that our relationship was not healthy and immediately cut off all contact.

I have no great words of advice, but I can share my own experience.

One, it took about a year and a half for the pain to go away.
Two, I came to realize that in fact she was right -- it had not been healthy.

@DrWatson im sorry to hear this. It is the hardest. A year and a half?! 😔 thats a long bloody time to be hurting. Did you do anything for the "healing process"
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Sar1991 Talking with friends helped me to put things in perspective.

Went through something similar years ago, my advice, create distractions for yourself, get rid of everything she ever gave you, cry as much needed, scream, get it all out, I eventually started feeling better after 6 months… I wish I never met him but I believe it’s made me a stronger person.. best wishes

That's so sad, but at least you are free to do what you want with who you want now.

I recommend joining a dating website and looking for someone like minded who is also free to do what they want

@workathome i know what your saying but my god its hard because all i want is her.
She changed me (for the good) as a person. We did so many amazing things together.

@Sar1991 I understand, but if she doesn't want you enough to leave her hubby then you have a new life to start working on, right?
Sar1991 · 31-35, F
@workathome i suppose your right. But i cant even bare the thought of being with somebody else. 😕

Been there...done that. She ended it abruptly and never talked to me about it again. Had to see her everyday at work...was and still hard....think of her often but for my own happiness I stopped trying to talk with her after 1 1/2yrs...just moved on.

Time heals ..give it as much time as you need . Then when you're ready you will be able to let new love in . Take your time doing so .

That’s tough. Stages of grief suck. Time is the only thing. Sorry.

@Sar1991 it’s a journey, but please know that she won’t be the only one.

Someday… when you’re ready.
