I relate my self worth to my university work

I spent this weekend being really productive, spending time with my close friends, partner, cleaning the house and attending a special course but I didn't do any specific uni work (studying or preparing for classes) and now I can't shake off the feeling of guilt and worthlessness. It is always like that and it's mostly hard for me to enjoy days when I'm not drowned in work.

I just went through the realisation that I was basically torturing myself with hyper-productivity every day and ruining my life.

You have to unlearn the toxicity of expectation that's ingrained in schools, society and online self improvement culture.

You're not lesser or better if you have or don't have ambitions, you're not in a race with others, you don't need to justify anything to anyone, society teaches you to do that.

I just handed in a "bad" assignment, I'd had flu in the week I was gonna finish it, do I care? No, it's just a mark 馃し not worth stress or self hate, I do well usually.

@Ryannnnnn you are absolutely right! i felt like i was on a verge of a burn out this weekend so today i skipped uni classes and a mid term and i'm just relaxing now. it is just a mark and i also do well usually, just like you. i do like self improvement but everything that's too much isn't good, right? i hope you get well soon!
