“wear the hijab”

you wanna know something crazy?
3 years ago, 2 years ago, 1 year ago,
i asked my mom the same thing every year.
“mom, are you ever gonna force me to wear the hijab?”
“mom what age should i wear it?”
“mom i wanna wear it when i’m 17 so that i can live my life and continue to be comfortable”
i said,
repeated,
three exact sentences.
and she said
“ofcourse “
“it’s the right choice”
“it’s your decision”
now when i got assaulted,
and got cat called.
when i grew,
and i started getting men’s attention.
she said
“wear the hijab sarah”
“your old”
“do it”
my father yelled at me for getting
assaulted by a man,
he said it was my fault because i didnt wear the hijab.
my mother compares me to those girls around me.
my mother cares about what people think,
I know she does.
When people walk in and out of school,
She compares,
“look sarah she’s wearing the hijab”
when my brother mentions a girl
“she wasn’t wearing a hijab, look to what he’s saying”
“you have to wear it”
Well mom,
What happened to the “your choice” ?
what happened to the “when your comfortable”?
what the hell happened to “when your ready, you can wear it” ?
And what in the hell happened to
“live your life before it’s too late”?
I’m 15 for gods sake
u was 12 3 years ago man.
Sometimes i feel like i’m supposed to wear the hijab for this society,
not Allah.

The hijab is a sign of your worship and submission to Allah and Allah alone. You should wear it if you're Muslim, (meaning you choose to submit your will to Allah's will and decide to follow His guidance for us to lead our best lives how we're supposed to). And if you choose not to, then it is your decision. You'll be accountable for your decisions, let them pick theirs. No forcing and no being forced.

I understand what it is like to have parents that push you to be like them and they may not explain it (or even know why themselves or any better 🤷🏾‍♂️). Just know that when you die. You die alone. They both walk away from your grave. So pick that which will benefit you, take the good advice where you see it, follow Allah, and know to consult your fitrah as well

السلام عليكم
Sounds like a shite place to live.

Move to a better country when you're able to afford it.
