It's been a month since I was laid off. The job search isn't going great, I thought I would find a job by now. Feeling like a bum

I am actually trying really hard to find something but no one pays anything and I am applying to jobs everywhere not just here. Maybe I am not going at this right. I am going to once again redo my resume. Going to keep hitting it and applying but it's pretty depressing or maybe I am just depressed who knows. That last time I was laid off was a long time ago and I was going through my divorce at the time. I found a job within 2 weeks but it didn't pay anything really and this time around I can't afford to take a really low paying job I couldn't pay my rent or bills off what people are offering for pay. Something has to give the housing prices or the wages GRRRRR

I applied all over when I graduated from graduate school in 1998. I waited most of the summer.

I then had two interviews in town which led to no offers. Then the federal government in nearby DC got back to me, and I had two interviews in two weeks and got multiple job offers from both agencies. I chose one and have been there ever since.

Have you checked usajobs.gov?

I actually used it a few months ago to apply for my current job (working in the same office).

In my agency and my job, we can work anywhere in the US, even though the main office is in DC. I am guessing many other places allow this now, too. The pandemic proved it could work, and now they are offering it permanently.

So many companies are hiring employees to work remotely. I am not sure if you have looked into this yet? Or, if you are interested in this type of work.

@SW-User Yes, I can imagine it is. I see help wanted signs everywhere. But probably not the type of work that you may be interested in?
SW-User
@Teslin The problem is is no one is paying anything and with cost of living you need to get a job that pays at least enough to cover your bills. No one wants to pay a livable wage They want a bachelor's degree 20 years experience and they want to pay you $15 an hour

@SW-User Yes, I can only imagine. I know that for every job we have posted recently, they said we were gettin 200 applicants. So, what you are saying makes sense.

May but be what you want to hear, but grab any job you can... It is much easier to get the job you want if you are already working... Good luck!

I’ve been there when I graduated and was unemployed for two years. The grind of looking is the hardest part

Any industrial experience? Or willing to work in an industrial environment?
SW-User
@icedsky Like a manufacturing plant or a factory? I don't really have any experience in that but I'm not opposed to it
