I neeeeed to vent

Im 28 years old.
I work 80 plus hours a week to have what i do.
I never have gotten a handout i work not wait for others to give me a handout.
Im proud to be 28 own my own home and car.
It amazes me how many people complain about not having this or that.
I have no cable or dish tv just antenna and im happy that way.
If people would try a bit to cut cost they wouldnt need a handout.
Stop thinking you are entitled to handouts. Get off your butt and work. (Unless disabled).
This come from a peraon that works two plus jobs and tired of aupporting the lazy people.
Vent over have a good night all

Work ethic certainly may apply to some part of the people in the 20-40 age bracket who are struggling to make ends meet. But it's not the whole story. Can we agree that everyone needs a place to live. We can perhaps get by without a cat, but basic shelter can't be cut.

The cost of a home has gone up at a rate of 4x compare to wages. The cost of rent at a 2x rate. This means that just to secure shelter, a person now must pay a higher potion of what they earn into that than was needed in the past.

It used to be that simply working any job that wasn't service or retail for 40 hours a week and picking up the odd overtime put you in the lower middle class. That's no longer the case. Here is data.

The same applies to the cost of food, transportation, and other costs. Work that used to provide the basics and some spending money now provides enough to just get by.

Work is always a value proposition. Time for money and money for things that are needed and then for things that are wanted. That value calculation has changed a great deal over the last four generations.
