UPDATE: All for nothing

Monday's venting post, re: crazy food chucking lady is now resolved. God saw fit to resolve it by trashing my car. Transmission needs to be rebuilt, front brakes are gone, and it is leaking exhaust...exhaust pipe needs to be cut and welded. So...no more food pantry runs.

I tried to buy a new car today, and my credit isn't quite good enough. They told me to wait 6 months and try again. I still plan to drive my car, holding my breath and praying, to get my own groceries, and go to Dr's appointments. But nothing extra. No weekly food pantry run, and no trips to my friend's house to bring him food.

I feel a bit sick to my stomach...and I hope and pray my credit settles out in the 6 months I have to wait.

UPDATE: My son put down a $3000 payment on a new used car for me, and we will pick it up late this afternoon!

@Musicman It's worth $1000...IF it didn't have so many major repairs needed. The guy is doing me a favor not charging me to take it to the junkyard.

@4meAndyou with this good news, take time in the near future to tend to your credit report, so that it is good if/when you need it later. 😉

@easterniowegin Thank you!
I am so sorry to hear that. Just make sure your transmission is always good on fluid. Exhaust leak, you can life with, just might be loud. Front breaks, just be really easy on them.

@Sojournersoul The guy said the transmission was still filled with fluid, to the top, but that it smelled burnt, and that the gears inside the transmission need to be rebuilt. I would imagine that's not cheap.

@4meAndyou No it isn't. A transmission rebuild runs around $4000.

Fixing it is a waste of money.

Try to see if you can get a co-signer to help with a new car loan. Six months likely won’t make a material enough difference in turning a “no” around.

@4meAndyou Karma 🙏🏻❤️

@Adogslife GOOD Karma! 😊😊😊
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou I’d expect no less. 😊

I hope you can get a new car soon. You deserve it.

@BeJeweled THANK you!!!

OMG! I am so sorry to hear this 😢😢😢😢😢 Burnt fluid can still last quite a while. Like you said just be careful. When you hear the breaks squealing from going metal on metal that's when you have to worry. An exhaust leak won't bother you. I wish I was there to help you through this.

@Musicman They are supposed to be really reliable and trustworthy. The car IS 20 years old.
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@4meAndyou Let's hope this time they are wrong. Have you considered flushing the transmission and putting some new transmission fluid in?
4meAndyou · F
@Musicman The car was IN the shop and I had asked for the fluid to be flushed and new fluid put in, but they refused to do it...they said I would be throwing my money away because the gears were going bad inside the transmission, and it needed to be rebuilt.
