How do you help someone in a tough situation without pushing them too hard?

I think I see what they need, and I think maybe they do too, but the steps are so painful to take.

Give them options of what they're comfortable with and slowly have them go out of their comfort zone.

It depends what the situation is of course.

@SinlessOnslaught That's fantastic of you! Just got be sure to be firm in your words, don't say things like "maybe" or "I guess", like actually tell them what they need to do and give them space always if they ask for it.

@ArkBallet We did discuss helping each other, so I took that to mean I could make suggestions, but honestly I'm so screwed up in my own head that I never know when I say something harmful to someone or not.

@SinlessOnslaught That's fair honestly, it's hard to know, especially online. It is just learning to see if they are truly open to what you're saying, or if they're just trying to agree and shut down the situation. If you want to, you can run through it with me.
