I Am Having A Tough Time

I work in an office where 95% of my coworkers are females. Some are friendly but most are not. I have adopted the attitude on day one to keep away from office gossip or unnecessary drama. Believe me this choice is not me being intelligent, it derived from previous experiences at other companies. I go to work with the attitude to do my job, and not create close relations with anyone. Over the past few months my manager and I started bonding, it all started when she was promoted. She needed ideas and assistance on changing office processes. I was excited to help and I knew changes would be good not only for us as staff but also for better productivity. We worked hand in hand and slowly introduced the changes. I was proud of myself and I gladly accepted the praises from others, it felt good to help. As of late there has been some really disturbing issues arising with staff bickering and office gossip. Disciplinary hearings were held which brought immense hostility toward me. All of sudden coworkers assume that I've been taking things to management. I'm just not feeling comfortable any longer. I have tried to understand where their assumptions are arising from but I've failed. Why assume that I've been the one taking things to management just because I share a friendship with them? Over and above not being happy working there I feel hurt that I'm being accused of something I didn't do. I hate that my good intentions have now been thrown at my face. I wish life would give me a break sometimes. As soon as one storm ends another comes raging through.

Sounds like a bad culture. When things get bad, I keep doing my job well and keep good documentation of my work. Then I start looking at Indeed for jobs.

Jobs are hard to come around. I was unemployed for nearly 2 years.

@WiseGirl: just keep working hard. It sucks when work sucks though. Affects the rest of your life.

Good luck to you.
