Once you get to age 60, what do you want to do for the rest of your life?
I'm not quite 60 yet for another cpl of years. But I look at it turning 60 as a key 're-evaulation' point of life's journey.
The day before I turned 50 I made a major move to leave my second ex and have been single, happy, independent, strong and 'internally confident' since. External confidence will probably never return to full strength but that doesn't really matter.
When I turn 60, I'll know my time on the earth as a living being is counting down.
Some years back I changed from working full-time to part-time (based around parenting arrangements for my now 8 y/o daughter) so income is not as much as before but I feel so much free-er (is that even a word?) and 'semi-retired'. I don't intend to go back to full time railway shiftwork.
I have in my mind a range of different 'roadmaps' to retirement and post-retirement, but buying my house at age 55 in 2023 kinda put a dent in the 'easy' ones so I think once I'm 60, I will have access to long-service leave (having by then been permament not casual/flex for more than 10 years in the same job) and can actually get serious on planning to step back from the workforce.
How do you view life milestones once you get to 50 and beyond?
