I loved those commercials and when they actually made real commercials that I loved to see, not the crap they make today.
When I was a young child our next-door neighbor's last was Maxwell, and they were elderly, and mom and Dad always called them Mr. And Mrs. Maxwell, so I grew up thinking they made and sold the Maxwell House coffee from their home. Why else would they call it Maxwell House coffee and mom, and dad Called them MR. and MRS. Maxwell, it just made sense to me.

Dig the shape of that coffee can. My parents had scads of those empties, off which they'd cut the bottoms and use them for early planting of vegetables, one plant to a can. Covered nights to protect from frost, plants could get in the ground a week or three earlier. I remember that jingle, too, if only from my crib.

Maxwell House coffee was named for the Maxwell House Hotel which stood in Nashville until 1961. It was supposedly a copy of their house blend. Just a little history lesson.
