What is the one thing that you will never want to lose ?

My mental faculties. I never want to be at the mercy of the predatory medical system or have other people in charge of my health and doing nasty things to me or exploiting me.

@dancingtongue I am not talking about elderly or sickly people who know they are on their way out.

I am talking about people who are suddenly struck by an affliction that may or may not be gradual, and that may or may not be purely a matter of physical general medicine.

Frankly, one does not have total control over one's health autonomy, at least in America. If you don't know this, then be glad.

If you've never found yourself on the bad end of the medical system, then count your blessings. You wouldn't be speaking with such convinction if you had seen or experienced the sorts of things I have pertaining to how some patients are (mis)treated.

People speak with such convictions as to things and outcomes that haven't affected them. I pray you are never humbled.

@GeistInTheMachine After 4 years of being bedridden as a child because my pediatrician did not trust that new fangled penicillin, I think I can relate. After 40 years working in health care to make it a truly patient-oriented system rather than profit-oriented, piece work for a dysfunctional fee-for-service system you don't have to convince me of the problems and horror stories. There are non-profit health care systems that are truly patient-oriented care systems if you can get past the politics of screaming heads decrying socialized medicine and communism. Have you made the effort?
