Moment In Paradise

This is a unique experience for me. In 2009, I had just called off my engagement. It wasn't a great time. Still, my bandmate was in a relationship with a great woman, Kristin, and she and I were friendly based on our brief chats at gigs. I can't recall who came up with the idea, but the concept was to bring her up to a gig to surprise my bandmate. The venue was 90 minutes away.

As it turned out, my college was having a class reunion, too, and it was on the way to the gig! Oh, did I tell you she could be actress Brie Larson's body double? She said yes to going to the reunion, held at a beautiful facility overlooking the Hudson River.

So, I walk in with her as my date:
That's Brie, not Kristin. But boy is it close.

Not bad, right? I didn't bother explaining that Kristin was my "pal", just enjoyed the guys' eyes lighting up. And the women, too.

I knew she was my buddy's girlfriend, but that didn't NOT make her a smokeshow. At one point, we went out on the deck. It was right as the sun went down. Kristin leaned on the railing, looking out at the expanse--huge river, lights from boats, the horizon up the coast, etc., her 5' 9" frame absolutely rocking her dark blue dress and curly blonde hair.
Should I even mention she was a former gymnast? Nah.

I knew we'd never be together, but I'll probably never forget that time. It was just a moment in paradise. I needed it. And there were problems with her and my friend, so she probably needed it, too. Years later, she's married (to another guy) with a kid, I'm engaged, and we have never spoken of this night since.

The fruit was right there, all you had to do was reach out, touch her hand, and as she turns to look at you, you move a step closer.
She doesn't back away but turns to face you, her hand gripping yours and she stares longingly into your eyes as the world disappears
It is just you two standing there, seeing each others soul as your lips move together.

and then your friend says "What the F - MAN"

@PoohSmasher I know. Quickest way out of a band and friendship ever. But we weren't a match on that level.
@uncalled4 But a little backdoor behind the backdoor, nobody needs to know.

@PoohSmasher My friend likes to overshare, probably his ADHD brain can't stop. I assure you she was a bit of a freak. It was something else.
