Some people want to move to Europe but here is the problem with that -
If trump DOES pull out of NATO, what happens then when Vladmir "Putain" looks at that continent and thinks, "Hmm, I could now take over that!"

Didn't trump mention at one point that if Putan were to invade, he would not stand in the way?

This situation has to suck especially for people who came to the USA to escape the dangers of their own nation. Like here they came and now the USA may not be safe.

I do not think trump needs to seal the border, I cannot imagine foreigners even wanting to come here now.

@CestManan
At one time, the USA was called "the greatest country in the world".

Point of order here CestManan. The only people in the world who have ever called the USA "the greatest country in the world", are Americans!

The only place in the world where that quoted statement of your's has ever had strong merits, was if it was spoken pretty much anywhere in the world ...by an American.

That is why Americans voted Donald Trump into the US Presidency for a second time, because the only people in the entire world who believe Trump's self-absorbed mantra about the USA being the greatest country in the world, are Americans.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@swirlie Most of us no longer believe that mantra. I haven't heard it in a long time.

But yeah trump is making these steep promises that are pretty much impossible at this point.

Like how he talks about mass deportations, just how does he think he will pull THAT one off? 🤨
Even if he did manage that, during the time the cops and military were wrapped up, domestic criminals would be having a field day.
The police and military are not organized enough for such an operation. 😂

Or how he wants to fix the economy yet also impose tariffs on imported goods, all that will do is jack up prices even more. Most good in America come from China and Mexico.
BTW, this same man who wants to fix the economy was also on youtube asking for donations.

Restructure the government? It would then be a completely different kind of mess than what it is now.

Of course all these huge changes and solutions, he claims he will do it in one day. Give me a f*ckin break.

I have found that my best country for emmigrating to would probably be Norway.

How would I manage that? I would just save up enough money to attend a grad school over there. Then they actually give you 6 months to look for employment visa free after you graduate.

Also of course I can look for employment in Norway during the 2 years I am in grad school.

It is the best path but it only really works if you have a STEM undergrad degree.

Norwegian itself is not a hard language. It is actually even easier to speak than Spanish. It isn't uncommon for people to study it full time for 6 months and speak it well.

My ex was from Norway so that is how I know about these things.

Suddenly every country is getting their own border control in order lol
HannahSky · F
@whowasthatmaskedman nobody wants us 😂 I don't blame them
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@HannahSky I really have trouble with this.. Just about every American I have met face to face has been wonderful people. But gather you in large numbers and its a real $h*t show..😷
HannahSky · F
@whowasthatmaskedman ikr for the most part people are great but in these crowds something happens. The power of influence.
I mean the way I see it is that even fascists need engineers. So I guess I will just go ahead and register as a fascist when the time comes and continue my life just quietly not supporting the government.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I mean, if people feel like the USA is so much screwed, it's time to think about the ways how to fix the world in general. Where do you want to go to not be affected by one of the biggest superpower?
Spain and Portugal...yeah. Retiring and living from American pension or working remotely for American company and non-stop hanging around the tourist sites. Exactly what these countries need. The prices already skyrocketed in the recent years due to digital nomads from rich countries so locals can't keep a decent standard of living anymore. This doesn't seem to be sustainable in the long run.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
I wonder, if you currently live in a country that you feel isn't right-wing enough, is now a good time to apply for U.S. citizenship ?
CestManan · 46-50, F
@Picklebobble2 There are born lifelong Americans that the trump admin doesn't even want to be here, I can imagine what it will be like once trump takes over, especially for anyone wanting to enter.
Every country has problems and the grass is never greener on the other side.

@Gingerbreadspice
You don't think the grass is greener on the other side of the American fence?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Gingerbreadspice True. But you should not ingnore the other fields in your search for a good life..😷
Bumbles · 51-55, M
Ideally, we’ll move to Baja California but keep a place in LA.
SandWitch · 26-30, F
What's really funny about your post is that none of those 6 countries on her list includes Canada, which is within walking distance of the USA! 🤣

I was reading where it is extremely difficult to immigrate to Canada, particularly if you've ever been charged with a felony in your home country.

In Canada for example, being charged with a DUI is a felony, whereas a DUI in the USA is only a misdemeanor, even if you kill someone because you were driving while drunk.

If you were charged with a DUI in the USA and then tried to immigrate to Canada, the Canadian Government views your DUI charge in the USA as a felony conviction under Canadian Law Standards and therefore disqualifies one from gaining Landed Immigrant status in Canada.

That is probably why 80% of all American applicants have been turned away by Canada's department of Immigration when Trump won in 2016 and now again in 2024. It is actually easier for an Asian or a Scandinavian to immigrate to Canada than it is for an American.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SandWitch As long as you dont make too much noise, you will be more than welcome..😷
SandWitch · 26-30, F
@whowasthatmaskedman

...okay, I'll just sit back here quietly and you won't even notice I'm here...!

whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SandWitch Right!!! I believe you...😷

Not everyone was excited about dictatorship, if you can imagine, people disagree 🥱

Some people do not value freedoms. Str4nge because that used to be the big selling point of our nation.

I guess a lot of people would prefer to be told how to live rather than take responsibility.
As we know, with freedom or power comes responsibility but some want neither. I do not get why.
