My family are so weirdly stoic about death

We aren't people who fall into tears or despair. Rather we just get quietly ill. When my dad died my mom didn't cry, she simply developed a chronic gut issue.

Now my wife's uncle has passed and he wasn't super close but a good man I really did like. Reclusive quiet very chatty guy who just wanted to play with Apple products and his guitars.

We're heavily involved in sorting out his estate and it's all sad and weird but we're just .. fine. Until I wake up with a pounding headache and upset stomach and realise it's entirely stress response I wasn't aware of. Poor guy was diagnosed

Just ruminating tbh I'm not even sure if there's something wrong about this. Just how I process ig

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. Grief doesn’t always look like tears, sometimes it settles in the body instead. Being fine on the surface doesn’t mean you’re not feeling it. Sometimes the body just speaks first. Maybe you’re just wired to carry things quietly. I'm so sorry for your loss. 🫂♥
Well this is interesting.
My mum passed last week and, as someone who does cry....i haven't yet, but eating has been a literal pain. Its like my body just doesn't want to digest.

I did wonder if it was connected🤔

I wonder if this is part of what some couples part soon after each other? Its just the stress and loss manifest in the body .

Maybe we both could really do with some sad music🤷‍♀

We have synapse and neurons in our gut same as the brain, it's no suprise when our emotions get a shake up so does our digestive system.

@PatientlyWaiting25 Oh yeah absolutely - it's more that it's the only response.

Happens to me too. Messes up my whole system when someone I love dies. When my dad died, I was off for months.

There’s nothing wrong with it. We all can grieve in our own ways.

There is no right or wrong way to grive
