I'm pre-mourning the day the last WWII veteran passes.

We call many things the end of an era but for me thats the marker.

My grandad got a glass eye in the war.

I made it a point when my kids were younger for us to meet as many as possible, including attending an Honor Flight return. The last one I met with my daughter last year at a pub when we were on a motorcycle ride. He was a regular there (only drank root beer) and was 96.

There's about 61,000 WW2 vets left, and they will probably be gone sometime in 2026 maybe into 2027, as most (if not all) are in their late 90's or older.
