Schifrin died from complications of pneumonia at a hospital in Los Angeles, on June 26, 2025, at the age of 93. He was survived by his wife Donna and their three children.

I remember him from the The Eagle Has Landed, where the leitmotif was beautifully incorporated into the movie itself as a soldier played it on a church organ. Rest in peace.
