If the anaesthesia worked. You wouldn't feel a thing.
Once they up the dose on a morphine pump you would be gently carried off. Hopefully.
The best way to clock off I witnessed. Was Mrs L. 98 years of age. We got her showered, dressed, make up on. She flipped us the bird and told us to piss off and passed away in that second with her Middle finger still raised.

Why the complicated process? When my little dog was put down by the vet, she just slipped the needle into his right leg, and he was gone in a few minutes. No whimper, eyes still opened, as he laid in my arms. I didn't even know until the vet said, "he's gone".

@sree251 We don't euthanise Humans, unfortunately. (The people who could make that legal never seem to spend any time with those that need it.)
Doctors don't like giving strong Anaesthesia cause either they don't want you to get addicted. Or because the dose would do damage to your liver or kidneys. In surgery their is another drug the pump you with that paralyses you so you don't move around on the surgery table. There have been accounts over the years were the patients anaesthesia had worn off or wasn't strong enough and they had to endure the doctor cutting into them.
The morphine Pump: Stick the needle in and it will deliver a steady dose of the stuff every 2 hours or so. Again the doctors don't give to much here because the goal is to manage the pain and not to euthanise you. So they administer the smallest dose first.. You can die screaming in agony because the Doctor doesn't want to get sued.

@Thevy29 In that case, you are not boxed in by the medical code and free to exercise common sense. You said it wouldn't feel a thing. So, why are they mucking up the death sentence by lethal injection? If my little dog can go so peacefully and calm at the vet's, why all that scary stuff in the execution on January 25? The state of Alabama executed Kenneth Smith using nitrogen hypoxia, subjecting him to inhale pure nitrogen through a mask until he suffocated?
