About hope

Emily Dickinson said hope is the thing with feathers that gently perches on the soul. It's indeed heard in chilliest land and strangest seas. To me it is that tiny ray of light on the shore of life's stormy sea. So I guess hope is not always something loud and big.

I wonder how hope is related to confidence. Through hope comes confidence? or is it that even the smallest amount of confidence leads to hope?
