@bijouxbroussard What animal would you be? BRW - I finished Birth of a nation. I see why it rejuvenated the klan. I couldn't decide if I thought it should be banned really. I read about all the cinematography innovation and still think it's trash, but I'm not a real advocate of banning....

But believe it or not, I don’t think any of these movies or books should be banned.
There are actually people born this century who don’t believe that such ugliness and hatred has been this country’s legacy.
So it needs to stand as proof of what ours and previous generations have been fighting about. It’s important that the truth of what people thought not be lost
With the GOP it’s become all or nothing—if they can’t celebrate the history they want to erase it. 🥺

As I was watching, I tried to imagine whether I could imagine the klan to be a good thing as a white person, and I found it easy to do. That bothers me. If I can do that, so can a lot of people. For that reason, I think it's really unhealthy for white people to see it if they don't know what the klan really is or what they can expect from the movie. I found it pretty disturbing from that standpoint....

@originnone I have always wondered if I would be a racist if I were white. This country and much of the world encourages it. I’m guessing it would depend on my upbringing, but I actually have white relatives in the south who somehow managed not to be racists.
