how to deal with existential crisis after witnessing death?

after my 1 year old cat died a horrible painful death i cant stop thinking about how fragile everything is and nothing matters

Death is a normal part of the cycle. It's not normally happy. But that's life - that's normal. I've lost pets, i've lost siblings, and parents. That's normal - that's the cycle of life. Find happiness in what they have achieved, what they have provided, or just that you still live. It doesn't matter.... that's life.

I've witnessed the most horrid and painful deaths imaginable - and they are horrid - life is much better. It does matter.
