I feel there's lots of pain during the time of shutting down. Because when you can't breathe, your muscles will be sore, they will feel like they do when you've been running and need to stop to catch your breath. And the burning inhales when catching your breath after a run....but like way worse. Then after.... Probably numbness. Like poof. No more awareness. I wonder what nonexistence feels like.
But religiously I believe I'll still exist after death. I will astroproject and stand beside my body and look around. I will be extremely anxious if I've been a bad person in life. The angels will take me away up up uppp to the heavens. Then I will be thrown back inside my body when my body is buried six feet under. I'll wake up and sit up inside my grave and be extremely frightened of the darkness. The walls of the grave will churn me if I've been a bad person and the floor will be lit on fire. I will scream in pain and agony.
If I was a good person I'll have a sound sleep.
Damn oof. It hurts just typing.. ouchie oo.

Hmmm, good question. I just turned 81, I think I'll find out pretty soon :)
Hopefully it's a bit like what John Prine describes ...

My screen will flash for a second and then there will be a few minutes of a high pitched beep.

Nothingness. "The dead are dead and know nothing." What I've witnessed it seems peaceful.

It probably depends on the circumstances of one's death. Some people will pass away in their sleep basically with no awareness (of the process), some people pass away from serious illness or injury. We are not religious and don't believe in astral faeries.
We are physical elements from the earth [ie. some dirt assembled in a special way] (except for aliens living on earth) and we have a life-force that is a type of energy that starts from the moment egg and sperm combine and ceases to operate upon death.
Our physical bodies being part of the earth will go back to the earth no matter how we die unless we die in space and our bodies are not returned to Earth. Our life force just gets re-absorbed into the total quantity of energy that forms our planet's existence.

Exiting the body, then some waiting area in eternity for the Judgement day, for some people it might be hell or Heaven right away, some are in a waiting state....

I believe we look down on our bodies for a short while, then get pulled towards the light where our souls dwell in a realm devoid of time and space.

first they unplug the life support and plug it back in quickly. when that doesn't work they cover you with a sheet

Of or after is peaceful but just before may not be, depending on circumstances

Those who have spoken of the experience have returned to life after being "dead" for some time, so only those who have really died and not returned know what it is like, so keep on guessing.
