When walking past street charity collectors and people doing surveys I get my phone out and pretend to be mid conversation so I can walk past.

Because I never plan from going from A to B and stopping to set up a monthly direct debit of £10 or to answer questions about public transport.

I always wonder how much money charities miss out on. I'm quite happy to give a cash donation, though I rarely have cash nowadays. I'm never going to sign up to a direct debit on the street. I might take a leaflet and think about it.

@SW-User I never have cash either. I just buy stuff in charity shops.

@ninalanyon I get books from charity shops occasionally. Clothes are a non starter as they are always too small.

@SW-User I already have far too many books. And we have a couple of good free libraries not too far away so I try to donate more books to them than i take.
