I've kept my current studies a secret from friends and relatives

I'm working on becoming a Respiratory Therapist but I'm not telling friends or family until I've successfully completed the program. I once heard someone say, don't tell your family and friends your business until you've completed your goals, get that job or promotion, etc. and I've followed that advice ever since. I can't stress enough on how true that is.

I'm confused on why not...

I mean, if they're negative, okay I get it and can agree, but if they're positive, then why not tell them?

@Viper Obviously if they are negative it is best to not say anything til after the fact.

Thing is even if someone is positive about things, they might start to doubt someone if the person working towards something doesn't make it. OR they might say, "You should do this or that instead"

The main reason is that you won’t have to answer those constant questions about your progress which can be unnecessarily stressful.

@eMortal that’s true

why not tell them suppose it is your call . do you not think your family will not be proud of what you are trying to achieve and be proud of you [autumn25]

@smiler2012 They would be proud but some might say, you should have gone into something else instead. So for now, I won’t tell them what I’m doing.

@SW-User 🤔well they have no right really your future and destiny is in your hands and not your families call , basically you do the thing you are cool and comfortable with
