Fraud! Be Careful.

I was checking my bank accounts this morning. I have a specific card I use only for travelling. I don't use it anywhere else.

I noticed a charge for 5.95 from a company called Howsayit.com. I started looking down the list of activity and noticed 3 companies that started back in April. First each one took .95. Then they went to 1.95 each and now they are up to 5.95. There were 11 charges.

The bank said "someone" set up a wallet for me for Google Pay, Apple Pay etc. but it wasn't me. It is only 32.95 but I had to dispute the charges, file a claim and stop the card.

They start small so you don't think anything of it, then you recognize the name as the charges go up. what caught my eye is that I have a low balance on the card at the present and I have not been using it at all.

Thank you for the warning.
We've been scamned online too. The hub almost fell for it and I said don't give them your ss number...its a scam. So he didn't then reported it to the company that someone was impersonating them.

I have occasional odd fraud. Been a while. I do watch all charges carefully.

@Confined yeah these people were tricky. once they started the 95 cent charges, they opened more accounts and got up to 5.95!

Similar thing happened to me. Someone had set up a Spotify account using one of my cards and I spotted it while going through my monthly charges. Called customer service who investigated and afterwards canceled the account as well as reimbursed me for the $40 loss. Going through your monthly charges is a good idea.

@PatKirby what i knew was i had not used the card because there was only 36.00 on it. when i saw the recurring charges i knew it was not me.
