Last night roommate told me
"You're not really bothered by being at home all day every day, I've noticed. You don't even seem to be getting cabin fever."
Well there are two reasons for that.
1. I value my peace and quiet, I enjoy being at home because that's where everything I love is, and I have health issues that make it hard for me to go out for long periods because my pain will become unbearable after a while in an unfamiliar setting. I am never bored at home. There is always a hobby I enjoy, or cleaning to do.
2. I was neglected by my parents since around the age of 9. I was left alone in the house to raise my younger brother, and we were alone for months at a time with not one adult checking on us. I stole a blank checkbook from my mother so that I could pay the bills while she was out god knows where. We had no phones, no internet. I did the cooking, the cleaning, laundry, checked my brother's homework, signed the report cards and permission slips by forging my mother's signature, etc. I am used to being alone. I am used to taking care of myself and others. It would be lovely to have the luxury of a spouse who WANTED to take care of me, but that isn't my reality.
So yeah. I'm cool being home for long periods. I don't get cabin fever.
