There's double standards

I think if women can't have abortions anymore men shouldn't be allowed to abandon pregnant women unless the woman doesn't want them around or something

I'm extremely against banning abortion, but what you're describing isn't a double standard. Women can still legally walk out on their families and/or put their children up for adoption.

edit: also I'd argue that this kinda downplays the problem, the real problem is that they violate bodily autonomy.

@BlueVeins it isn't banned

@MasterLee https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2022/06/24/1107126432/abortion-bans-supreme-court-roe-v-wade

Abortion is now illegal or heavily restricted in at least 11 states following the Supreme Court's historic decision Friday to overturn Roe v. Wade. Twelve other states have laws in place that pave the way to quickly ban or severely restrict access to them, according to research from the Guttmacher Institute, a group that favors abortion rights. Several additional states appear likely to pass new laws.

@MasterLee yes it is, just not everywhere. There are states with pre existing laws and trigger laws are so restrictive by the time a woman knows she is pregnant, can make and implement a decision to is too late according to state law.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@BlueVeins so you admit it is not banned
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@Subsumedpat you just stated some states. So you must admit it isn't banned.
@MasterLee if you can’t get an abortion in a state, then it is banned in that state. Is that literal enough for you. Lol
BlueVeins · 22-25
@MasterLee The article I just linked you to says it is banned in many states.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@JonLosAngeles66 sure. Go to a state that allows it.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@BlueVeins so it is a misleading article.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@MasterLee Are you denying the existence of trigger laws now?
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@BlueVeins no. I made my point very clearly. Are you not understanding abortion is not banned in the US?
BlueVeins · 22-25
@MasterLee It's not banned in the US by the federal government, never said it was. It's banned by several states.
@BlueVeins don’t bother going down a rabbit hole with this guy. Lol
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@BlueVeins so you understand it is not banned.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@JonLosAngeles66 yes facts will confuse you both.
@MasterLee childishness is frustrating in an old man.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@MasterLee Sir that's the opposite of what I just said.
GermanAf · 26-30, M
@MasterLee I see that your biggest fan is still yourself as you go out of your way to heart your own comments.
The article isn't misleading at all, abortion IS banned (illegal) in many states across the US.

And your reply to my comment will probably be "so you admit that it's not banned" or something similar. But now that I've said it you will call me a stupid liberal... A shit now I said that too! What are you gonna say now? Say it doesn't matter because abortion is amoral anyways? Or maybe claim that it's a non-issue because women can just go somewhere else?
I can smell the freedom from here
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@JonLosAngeles66 well you block your age so I have no idea how old you are or when your childishness began.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@GermanAf so you are triggered.

Fact: abortion is NOT banned in the US.
Fact: abortion is a states rights issue
Fact: some states may choose to disallow it
Fact: you can always travel to a state that allows it if you get pregnant
Fact: abortion is legal federally
Fact: it is cut and dry
BlueVeins · 22-25
@MasterLee Why is states' rights so often used as a euphemism for taking away individual rights
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@BlueVeins it never is. That is a liberal talking point.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@MasterLee It was literally used to defend slavery and segregation in southern states.
GermanAf · 26-30, M
@MasterLee Ahhhh I didn't think of triggered! That's such a 2018 thing of you to say!

Fact: abortion is banned in parts of the US
Fact: abortion is a states rights issue but it most definitely should not be because it's very much an area of healthcare
Fact: some states have trigger laws in place that BAN it
Fact: I can't get pregnant you dolt
Fact: Gatekeeping abortion behind travel is some dystopian future stuff
Fact: Not everyone has the means to travel, maybe you forgot how big the US is (area)
Fact: MasterLee hearts his own comments :*
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@BlueVeins the democrats loved it too. It forced the US to pass amendments to the constitution. Now it is a federal LAW. I know you skipped civics.
