I just read my poetry from high school. Freaked me out.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
I have journals dated back to 1992. Reviewed then a few times.
@SageWanderer this is just a lot of chaotic and angry stuff. Not anything I'd want my son to ever find.

@EldritchFox Thrn maybe a burning with a banishing spell. Full moon and a release!

I'm far too sentimental towards things

I have a hard time throwing away a stick in my drawer that I picked up 15+ years ago.

As I know myself, I'd keep them but wouldn't read them.

I have printscreens from EP when I was processing things and was going a bit crazy but I haven't gone back to them so far. Still, I don't want to rob myself off that option, maybe there will be time when I will need to revisit them.

I kept a journal from age 9 to 30. When I was 32, I opened them all and started to flip through, and all it did was bring back sooooo many horrible memories and feelings. I wanted to kill that person.

I burned the journals immediately and do not regret it. I burned my yearbooks for the same reason. When I leave this life, I want there to be absolutely no trace of my ever having existed.
@DearAmbellina2113 it's hard to read back and see who we had to be in those times.

I guess we all cease to be remembered at some point, best to not be too sentimental to the stuff.

I should probably burn them but instead I post them on SW.

@EldritchFox Let ‘em see it first
@Lostpoet I might read through some of it. I was pretty brutal though
Lostpoet · M
@EldritchFox It’s just a reminder of places you’ve been
Why would you burn them?
@SinlessOnslaught to let go of the anger and sadness. So my son never sees it. Lots of reasons.
@EldritchFox It is sacred.
@SinlessOnslaught it's a lot of self loathing. Not sure how much I still need to remember that
Prettybratbi1tch · 26-30, F
I would get rid of them for 2 reasons:
1. I wouldn't want to read them and go back to that state.
2. I don't want anyone else reading my personal thoughts.
lovingdead · 36-40, M
They were most burnt already, thus i might keep it
MellyMel22 · F
I’m not sure 🤔
@MellyMel22 the votes are all keep but I think I want to burn them. It's sad and harsh stuff.
MellyMel22 · F
@EldritchFox And you have to do what’s best for you. What everyone considers sad may be very different from what you experienced.
Younameit · F
If there was a chance my child was gonna see it like you mentioned id burn them. Depending on the content of it of course. But you can take pictures of it
@Younameit yeah I don't want him to ever see this. It was hard times and I respect that journey but I want to let it go.
DragonFruit · 70-79, M
I have kept mine....some quite good, some not so good but they reflect my mindset at that time.
Mine isn't a journal per se, but a collection of my old writings.
Picklebobble2 · 61-69, M
Oh destroy them !

Unless you can edit the negative and retain the positive.

I kept diaries and journals for years.
Mainly to log conversations with people who had influence in what was going on in my life that i had no control over.

But they were depressing to reread.
@Picklebobble2 I might skim them but yes it's very depressing to read how life was in those times. I don't even want to edit it, it was what it was lol
