the emptiness is becoming a burden

Life was tough but predictable when I still had a job...
I used to work 10 to 12 hours a day. not always fun but work with purpose (even when at times at purpose was artificial)

so after decades a new AI powered strategy means my job got slashed

I 'forgot' to invest in life outside work. I always had the excuse that work was demanding. and it was; because I committed to getting shit done. and then my boss basically said that my efforts in the past were irrelevant, and I dont fit with the current way of working anymore (which isnt working btw)

and now I feel the burden of the emptiness. I really need to break out of this ... I need to refind my fire, my mojo, some sense of purpose. but it will no longer be for a corporate illusion of purpose

That's a good start! And do something that feeds your soul.

Good luck
you need to volunteer for group that needs someone who can get thigns done, like parade groups or events groups, like fetes, or amborees
DANG !
Man that's gotta be a huge jolt to your whole life !
Geez....all that time and effort focused on a mode of living...and now you have to not only shift gears, but shift to a completely different vehicle.

Ive had to go thru a complete life change and, well....it isn't easy. I think i went numb for at least two years - lived on auto pilot, plodded along on survival mode.

Do look after yourself. I can definitely recommend that.
Maybe join a gym, get a trainer.
Learn to eat well if you aren't already.

It may take you a while to find a new direction, so in the mean time spend it on improving your inner health till you do.

Drastic life changes are such a shock to the system.l🫤

One more thought: if you have the money? .....ever thought of a long holiday? As in some sort of country skipping type thing ?
Maybe stepping right out of your life completely might help ?
I dunno....im just spitballing🤷‍♀

Hopefully you have some financial cushion. It’s always terrible to lose income.

Finding your purpose and your community may seem daunting but it can happen.

I don’t know what your overall situation is, but if you can take a bit of time to either study a new skill/for a new job and find a good fit, that would be ideal. Do you have someone to kick ideas around with?
Just do it now, you never know when time will run out. Do things that made you happy as a kid.

I've spent years studying tech to try to switch careers. Now with ai it seems it was all a waste of time. Not sure what to hope for now.

I hope you find something to fill that void soon.
