My parents and my kids are all I have. I would not know how to live.

Honestly, there's a chance I'd be dead. So much has happened in my life where I have needed them and they have always wrapped around me and supported me. I am so blessed. I know not everyone has a good family like this.

I was blessed with a great family. My true north was living an honorable life, with a clearly defined sense of purpose. They only galvanized that resolve. I owe all that I am to their love & presence.

But some unlucky souls are truly alone to make their own way in this world. If fortunate, it defines them; like well tempered steel. Into resilient, reilable, unstoppable individuals, of fine character.

Given either scenario, I know I'd be the individual I am today.

I hate to think about it.

Who knows? In a foster care at first and that's complete lottery. Maybe I'd be dead, in prison, homeless or a functioning member of society. Who knows?
