I wish it was just that simple. It's not even that simple for even animals. And they run mostly on instinct. Fear is THE most basic instinct in all life. Yet instinct is even more basic.
Renkon · M
@DeWayfarer Indeed.... Fear is a natural instinct that keeps us safe.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Renkon My point is to stress there are other instincts in play.
And BTW even AI agrees with that.
Example danger raises fear, yet quickly turns to anger when young are at stake.
That is true for even humans. Both are instinctual. Yet the more base instinct will always win out.

@DeWayfarer That's good line of thinking.

I believe there are more complex layers to this, however it is true that people will fall to familiarity than the unknown.
itsnotimportant · F
@Renkon It can be either self imposed or real limitations we all have. Either placed within a culture and environment, or very real constraints like financial stability and such. And then we all have some form of fear holding us back that keep us attached to the same old familiar. We don't always appreciate the freedom we have when we are able to choose.
Renkon · M
@itsnotimportant Hmm... you have a valid point there.
Sometimes people are held back by circumstance...we need to find our strengths to break those strings and surge ahead.

@Renkon Indeed. We all need support and guidance in these times and unfortunately most people find themselves far from it when they need it the most.
Some pick familarity over hard won peace because they don't know what they don't know ....It took me almost 50 years to learn that ...I choose peace

That’s a sad take. Yes, I agree to an extent, but it’s a generalization. Some are enticed by the new, by change, by possibilities. Others prefer to stay where they are because the devil you know… We’re all wired differently. And sometimes, you want something to be something it’s not, and letting go of that hope is painful and difficult.
Renkon · M
@ChampagneOnIce That's an interesting line of thought.🤔

You keep popping up only feed 😬
I think sometimes people go back because they feel it’s worth trying to fix. Unfortunately some things can’t be fixed. I’m sure some can be at times though.

@MellyMel22 You can try to fix something once. But repeating the same action and expecting a different outcome, isn’t that futile?
MellyMel22 · F
@Renkon I’m sure at times it works out, especially after time apart. Sometimes that’s all it takes. It all depends on the people. Of course most times probably aren’t worth it.
