People often choose the pain they know over the peace they do not.

Your brain’s primary job is to keep you alive, not to make you happy.

To the subconscious, familiar means safe …. even when familiar means painful. Your brain knows how to handle what it’s seen before.

But something genuinely new …. real peace, deep joy, openness …. reads as a threat, simply because it’s unknown.

That’s why people go back to what hurts them. Not because they’re broken….
Because they already know how to survive it.

You keep popping up only feed 😬

I think sometimes people go back because they feel it’s worth trying to fix. Unfortunately some things can’t be fixed. I’m sure some can be at times though.

@MellyMel22 You can try to fix something once. But repeating the same action and expecting a different outcome, isn’t that futile?

@Renkon I’m sure at times it works out, especially after time apart. Sometimes that’s all it takes. It all depends on the people. Of course most times probably aren’t worth it.
