Gonna sound weird but... anyone. I'd lay down my life for anyone who needed help. Or saving, close to me or not. Why just let another human being die if I could possibly be the thing that lets them have a chance? Isn't that kind of why we're all here in a way? To help our fellow human beings? If I were to pick and choose I'd feel kinda messed up just standing around going "well...idk that lady/guy so🙈"

I'd die for my son without needing to think about it. My life is his.

My life in exchange for them to keep theirs? I am truly willing to die for many people in my life.
Whether I could make that choice would depend on the person and situation. With very little time to decide, yes I could make it. With more time to think it through, maybe not. There are people I wouldn’t want to have to live with knowing I died for them.

The wife, sure, but that's not plan A.
To quote Patton, "No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making some other poor dumb bastard die for his country."
I think it's applicable here.

@DunningKruger Still, the wife should be pleased to hear this.
I have to admit ...
The list is getting a lot shorter.
