Pure embarrassment.

Saw a lady ahead of me panicking because she tapped her card and it declined. I wanted to do a good thing so I said I would cover the meal.

Tapped my card and it also declined.

*Dies of embarrassment*

You reminded me of the time I took my family on an impromptu road trip through Las Vegas and onto the Grand Canyon.

We drove straight to Vegas and got a room at the latest casino to open on the strip, Treasure Island.

We arrived after midnight and got settled into our suit, I kept referring to as the rainman suit due to the view and amenities. Lol the TV was one of those that rises up out of the cabinet and big enough and powerful enough that I'd give my son rides on it lol. We all had a blast.

Next morning, we go out to breakfast at one of the casino's restaurants and when I tried to pay with my ATM card, i was denied. ..with an audible bzzzzz. Of course I knew I had money in my account. ..plenty, but after I tried again, I was denied again. Of course I protested and of course they'd heard it all before, as they did their best to patronize my story and asked me if i had any other method of payment.

I paid with my AMEX. and we went on our way. I called my bank as I was heading out of town to inquire about the state of my finances. They said everything was in order. They deciced to freeze my card when all the evidence of its use were as if it had been stolen and was being used to fund a trip to Vegas.

I lost my shit at that excuse and their resolve. They told me I should have called ahead to tell them I would be leaving and give them my itinerary. The implications caused my already irritated state to explode into the monster I turn into when people try to control me and who presume my money is theirs to control.

That caused the little prick on the other end of the line to completely block my account until I was able to get back home and close the entire account as well as my savings and joint account and wife closed hers too.

But yea, ..that declined card feeling sucks. ..especially in Vegas where everyone assumes you're a degenerate gambler
