When overtaking a long or heavy vehicle you must never exceed the speed limit. True or False?

And what if that long vehicle is 53 metres/ 57 yards in length?

True. Speeding to overtake another vehicle is illegal.

I'm in Australia btw. If you want to overtake a slower (than you) vehicle when you are yourself not speeding (they key criteria) you must wait until there's an overtaking lane or if the vehicle in front slows down going on an open section where it is safe to overtake *without speeding* and there isn't an overtaking lane and the centre line is not solid (or if double not solid on *your side*) then you can overtake the slower vehicle.

If the centre line is solid no overtaking is permitted on that section of road.
