Why do people drive so fast? What was wrong with horse and buggies?

I know we can't slow down
connect in our own town
cause there's somethin down the road
that we can't wait to hold...
and we need it now right quick
like a drug cause we are sick

but I can't drive that fast
and I want to see it last
I still want the cure
-only slower

It's shocking how rushed people are and often forced into that way, career and life's daily challenges not letting up for even a moment. It shows on the roads but it takes just a second to lose control and for life to change in catastrophic ways. So much better to leave early and take a bit longer on your journey.

@PatientlyWaiting25 thankyou that is so true!! people are so stressed but it's not their individual fault

your name has the PatientlyWaiting statement that is not only generous but respectful and communal based. Like the taking a breath while someone cuts in front of you in a car or supermarket lane

@atlantic59 yes that sounds like me, I try to be chilled. There's few things so drastic that it can't wait, a calmer approach is usually better unless it's a life or death situation.

@PatientlyWaiting25 absolutely. I just realized though that I am priveledged because I am retired and have all the advantages and most people are on stressful time schedules because of the modern world, I just hope that busy people do take the time to chill somewhere in their day

@atlantic59 it's a very pressured world we live in
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@PatientlyWaiting25 and not only do I agree with the recognition of the pressure but I must now come clean and say that I never ever dealt well with pressure and I would be a complete hyprocrite to tell anyone to find time to chill when my idea of such is to take a substance or have a drink. I still think horses and buggies are the answer though. -Riding behind the horse with a drink in my hand
@PatientlyWaiting25 They put the pressure on themselves.
I have NO sympathy for them!!

@RockinPop54 people have to work hard, especially single people with a family to support, a job to be on time for and a crazy boss that will not be understanding or appointments to keep before you lose it. There's always something.
@PatientlyWaiting25 There's only pressure on you if you accept it.
I never did. I guess that's managers hate me! LOL!!
But I didn't care who liked me or who didn't, I was there only to do a job, not win a popularity contest!
They got my time for 8 hours, they weren't entitled to my soul!

@RockinPop54 I work in a time orientated profession, I'd I'm not there I lose clients and my boss gets pissed off. I do my best to give my self enough time though. It's not often a problem but I understand how much pressure there is.
@PatientlyWaiting25 I'm glad I retired before the workplace got so hectic!!
Where I worked we had a computer where we had to have an account with a personal password. My manager wanted me to give him my password, when I said no, it's personal he got mad & said that he was my superior, I told him that he was my superior in position ONLY & he was my equal in every other was. He hated me from that day & worked to black-ball me every chance he could. He got fired for it when the owners found out.

@RockinPop54 I'm an aromatherapist, my boss is a friend, I work out of her hair and beauty salon. She is pretty decent but she would still kick my arse if I messed around and kept paying clients waiting.
@PatientlyWaiting25 Understood - You have a client list & appointment times.
I was always in the electronics repair industry; as long as I got repairs done & ready for customers to pick up, all was well & I was there for 8 hours.
