How do you clean a thermos water bottle, (including the lid (especially the lid.)) So that it doesn't taste like detergent afterwards?

I use really hot water and clean my partner. I'll use a rag or a new sponge to wipe them down and then dry them off. He doesn't like the taste of soap either.

I give it to my wife and say "here clean this please".

Teaspoon of vinegar and a little baking soda , add hot water , let stand, rinse thoroughly

Alternate hot and cold water rinsing.
