I do this for a living. Sometimes it’s a good life and others it’s a lonely life but now with the internet there is always someone to talk to on those lonely nights.

My ex was a cross country trucker. I went with him for 2 years. It's a hard life living out of a suitcase. Trying to find places to park your truck to sleep. Waiting at a truckstop for a shower. Waiting to unload and for a new load. The only thing was you do get to see places that you probably wouldn't otherwise but you usually don't have the time to stop and enjoy them.

@lissah you’ve led such an incredible life. You never cease to amaze me.

@lissah Or talking to the fellow drivers who have been there and can share stories. My father drove truck for a living and I do miss the road

My father was a truck driver when I was very young. I used to go with him on his routes, sometimes for a couple days at a stretch. Loved the truck stop food and getting to know his fellow drivers. The nicest part of it was he had a sleeper in the back and I would crawl in and take a nap while my father made his deliveries. I totally miss it

Had been a career interest at one point, until talking to a close friend and long haul trucker.
Seems I'm lacking the prerequisite nerves of steel 🤔
Shame, the scenery and travel would've been amazing.
As would driving rigs like a straight stack Peterbuilt with the long nose.

Maybe you just love the thought of being on the road. Seeing different sites, sleeping in your cab. Enjoying the freedom the road can bring.

all the documentation, inspections, 10-12 hours in the seat trying meet impossible schedules, and paperwork prevented me from driving. now some interstates are a crawling parking lot

You like solitude and predictability

I think being a trucker will consist of sleeping in the sleeper and dreaming of your next meal while AI does everything.

By the time they have all that, I bet the truck will drive itself!
