My niece confiding in me about her 'friend' being racist is such a "yeah, girl we've all been through it" kinda conversation

and it's kinda lame I even look at it like that.

But alas, it's the world we live in. It's something she's gonna have to learn to navigate whether she likes it or not.

It's infinitely sad that children will have to transition from innocence to the ugly realities of life and it's even more sad when their innocence is taken unreasonably early. Then there is racism, one of the ugliest societal cancers. To want to hurt people on such a fundamental level is such a toxic trait and it can never come from a place of good, no matter how it is dressed up. If I had kids I would never want them to grow up and would struggle to want to let them leave the house to be honest. I wouldn't even want a child to live my life, let alone the life of someone who had to suffer racism.
It’s very difficult for me to keep such friends, it’s deal breaker for me

It's upsetting!

Even crazier that someone can tell a friend that he she is racist and not even worry about losing that friendship. Like talking about going to the movies.
@Infamous607 lmao fr

I would ask her in what way is she racist?
Adrift · 61-69, F
@HijabaDabbaDoo you sound like your on one.
Have a nice day.

@Adrift see you. Please don't report random African Americans grilling, bird watching or you know...existing.
@Adrift nah, just had these conversations one too many times. It takes away from the whole point but ditto

What happened, if you don't mind me asking?
@basilfawlty89 I'll pm you
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@HijabaDabbaDoo sure, no stress.
Unfortunately, it is a reality that behavior like that will always be around.

Do you think that racism is getting worse in the last few years?
@Burnley123 oh for sure, I think after Brexit it slowly started bubbling to the surface. Within the past 2 years it's been a lot more obvious.

@HijabaDabbaDoo I think that the 'anti-woke' stuff is also a really big part of it. During lockdown, a lot of lonely people got radicalised in right-wing online spaces. The anti-trans stuff, the manosphere etc. It's all interlinked and one step away from the great replacement theory. Once fringe views have become normalised.

On the immigration 'debate'. It's not a debate because nobody is defending migrants in the major parties. People intimidating and threatening asylum seekers have 'legitimate concerns'. Holding a sign supporting Palestine Solidarity Action gets you arrested for terrorism.

Can you be specific when you say “being racist “ or you don’t know exactly what she did ?
