My niece confiding in me about her 'friend' being racist is such a "yeah, girl we've all been through it" kinda conversation

and it's kinda lame I even look at it like that.

But alas, it's the world we live in. It's something she's gonna have to learn to navigate whether she likes it or not.

It's infinitely sad that children will have to transition from innocence to the ugly realities of life and it's even more sad when their innocence is taken unreasonably early. Then there is racism, one of the ugliest societal cancers. To want to hurt people on such a fundamental level is such a toxic trait and it can never come from a place of good, no matter how it is dressed up. If I had kids I would never want them to grow up and would struggle to want to let them leave the house to be honest. I wouldn't even want a child to live my life, let alone the life of someone who had to suffer racism.
